It’s About Moving. It’s About Getting Healthy! 

The  Modesto Marathon is March 18, 2012!!  Want to run it?  Walk it?   26.2 miles…13.1 miles… 3.1 miles…!  It’s your choice. Whether you’re a runner, a walker, a little bit of both, or you have been too busy with work, family, and life to think about your own health, let the Modesto Marathon Training Group help you “move forward.”  Move forward to a new you.  

It’s the Journey… Let us take you on the journey. Not only the journey to the finish line in March. But the journey of a healthy lifestyle, a lifelong journey of fitness and health. This is one journey that doesn’t have a finish line.  

There is no finish line when it comes to a healthy lifestyle.  While the short term goal may be finish line on March 18, the ultimate goal is to help you realize you are important and you’re worth taking the time to invest in yourself.   You’ll develop new healthy habits-physical and mental. You’ll meet new friends with similar interests, goals, time constraints, and maybe even the same types of excuses!  So many of you are committed to the needs of your family that you forget to take care of yourself.

Regularly scheduled training days are Saturdays at the Save Mart Supermarket parking lot on Oakdale Road and Scenic Drive, at 7:45 am., and Tuesdays at the MJC track at 5:30.

We have a full training calendar as a guide to assist you in your training for the half and full marathon.  Training for the half marathon?  Do half of the mileage listed for the full training program.

Create your own marathon pace wrist band  

One of the keys to achieving your best marathon time is to keep an even pace throughout the race. Go out too fast and you'll hit the wall, go out too slow and you won't be able to make up the time later (but you may feel more rested at the end). Determine the pace that you believe you can honestly achieve and stick to it.

Use these wristbands to guide you through those miles (or kilometers) when your mind can't do the math anymore (or you want to save your concentration for your race). Of course you may need to modify these numbers to take account of the local terrain - but these pace bands will help you along.
